About the role:
Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the Revenues Administrator is an integral part of the Finance Team and is responsible for delivering accounting services related to the custody and recording of all incoming contributions and other cash from external sources and other pension plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer all cash received for pension plans administered by OPB.
- Maintain receipts sub-ledgers within the finance system, perform daily bank deposits, record journal entries associated with receipt transactions, and update client systems.
- Ensure contributions and receivables are remitted within appropriate timeframes and are not comingled.
- Maintain the inventory of post-dated cheques received from members/pensioners, ensure their timely deposit.
- Prepare contribution reconciliations, age unprocessed buyback receipts including follow up on older items and review the monthly activity of buyback receipts and pensioner recoveries.
- Liaise internally with team members to advise of cash inflow information for cash management functions.
- Handle the incoming exchange of funds between OPB and OPSEU Pension Trust to ensure monies are properly exchanged on a monthly basis.
- Oversee invoice production for employer chargebacks, maintain customer accounts and ensure collection of outstanding invoices.
- Provide analysis of pension contributions from employers by calculating accruals and preparing associated journal entries.
Key Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with accounting methods, policies and practices through a combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with client payment systems, including the ability to retrieve accurate and pertinent information when responding to enquiries.
- Understanding of computerized accounting systems (Business Central 365) and Microsoft Office.
- Proven mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills to perform effective reconciliations and provide technical assistance to ensure information is accurate and complete and resolve problems/issues.
- Understanding of pension contribution requirements.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) required to effectively liaise with clients and colleagues, both internal and external.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Results oriented and solution focused, with strong attention to detail and decision-making skills to resolve issues within the requirements of established policies and procedures.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement (prioritizing work and understanding urgency).
Compensation:
The base salary for this position starts at $73,035 with future potential of up to $87,643. Candidates generally start at Step 1 salary. A candidate’s placement in the range is based on skills, knowledge, experience, and internal equity, with consideration for how the candidate is developing, meets, or exceeds the role’s requirements.
