OPB has an exciting opportunity to join our Policy team as a Writer, Pension Procedures. As an experienced writer, you will collaborate with internal teams to design, create and write concise procedures that support pension administration.
As a trusted business partner, the Writer, Pension Procedures plays an important role in plan administration, governance and continuous improvement. The Writer, Pension Procedures will collaborate with teams across the organization to create and maintain procedure documentation that drives clarity and consistency across various business streams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and revise high quality administrative procedures through analyzing policy decisions, legislative documents, plan provisions and business processes.
• Collaborate closely with internal partners to document procedures, directions and instructions, translating complex technical information into clear, concise and user-friendly operational directions.
• Develop evaluation processes to measure the effectiveness of procedures and contribute to continuous improvement to align with best practices and achieve required outcomes.
• Maintain an accessible central web-based repository of pension procedures and related information.
• Participate in various initiatives and recommend process enhancements to support OPB’s strategic priorities.
Key Qualifications:
• Well-developed research and analytical skills to interpret legislative requirements, policies, and business processes and translate into procedures for diverse clients with various operational requirements and business focus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex and technical information into concise, accurate and plain language procedures.
• Expertise in effectively managing procedure development through conducting research interviews, facilitating brainstorming meetings, working groups and gap analysis sessions.
• Experience with process mapping, gap identification and development of business procedures.
• A high degree of tact and diplomacy to manage the expectations of internal business partners, adapt to changing requirements and consistently deliver required outcomes.
• Proficiency with relevant computerized software (MS Office Suite, Web-based training tools and Content Management System).
• Experience in pension plan administration with in-depth knowledge of relevant pension legislation is an asset.
