About the role:
As a member of the Strategy, Communications and Stakeholder Relations team at Ontario Pension Board (OPB), the Digital Experience (UX/UI) Assistant will support initiatives and projects to align digital strategies and enhance client engagement, while gaining valuable experience participating in user-centric design processes. Reporting to the Manager, Digital Experience, the Digital Experience (UX/UI) Assistant will support user research activities and assist in applying digital best practices to support the delivery of exceptional user experiences across digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in refining existing user interfaces (UI) for our member portal and public websites, including design and/or content strategy and functional copy enhancements.
- Contribute to the implementation and launch of new digital features and tools, including supporting member communications campaigns and internal reviews where necessary.
- Participate in cross-functional working groups related to the development of user research activities such as persona development, client journey maps, surveys and focus groups
- Support usability testing and other studies by preparing functional prototypes, observing interviews, documenting findings, and coordinating end-to-end communications with participants.
Key Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate (in the last two years) of post-secondary education in user experience and user interface design, communications, digital media, digital marketing, human factors, information science etc. or a related field.
- Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite , with familiarity working in Agile workflows and using Figma, Adobe XD, CMS, Jira and Google Analytics
- Understanding of UX and UI design strategies, principles, standards and best practices.
- Experience contributing to or working within design systems and branding guidelines
- Awareness of digital accessibility requirements, including AODA/WCAG 2.1 with interest in inclusive design practices.
- Strong written communication skills including vocabulary and grammar to draft a range of materials and correspondence with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and manage priorities, adapting to competing objectives in a time-sensitive manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills to develop relationships and support internal stakeholder teams.
Compensation: The target hiring salary for this position is $53,000. A candidate’s placement in the range is based on skills, knowledge, experience, and internal equity, with consideration for how the candidate is developing, meets, or exceeds the role’s requirements.
